Some basics you may find useful.
The twin island Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis is located in the Eastern Caribbean, roughly 1,200 miles from Miami and about an hour by plane from Puerto Rico. There are direct flights from Miami, Puerto Rico, New York, Atlanta, Antigua, St Martin and London.
The population of St Kitts is around 35,000. Nevis has a population of around 10,000.
The official currency is the Eastern Caribbean Dollar (XCD or EC$) but US Dollars are accepted everywhere in St Kitts and Nevis at a fixed rate of approx EC$2.7 to US$1
On September 19, 1983 St. Kitts and Nevis gained independence from Britain, but the twin island Federation of St Kitts and Nevis remains a member of the British Commonwealth. The islands retain many British traditions. Cricket is a favourite pastime and we drive on the left hand side of the road. We do not however, have any traffic lights.
St. Kitts and Nevis are two islands but one paradise. Kittitian people are friendly and helpful and the island combines beautiful scenery, quality beaches and a rich culture and history. Brimstone Hill Fortress is a World Heritage Site.
In recent years Port Zante has grown to become one of the best cruise ship ports in the Caribbean.
The tourism industry on the island, while growing every year, still has a long way to go before it reaches the heights of more established islands. This gives St Kitts an "undiscovered" feeling. If sophisticated nightlife and major resorts are your style, then St Kitts is not for you. If however you wish to relax, enjoy and let the stress fall away then "come Limin' with us.
